What is the Holiday of Sukkot?
Sukkot is a weeklong Jewish holiday that comes five days after Yom Kippur. Sukkot celebrates the gathering of the harvest and commemorates the miraculous protection G‑d provided for the children of Israel when they left Egypt. We celebrate Sukkot by dwelling in a foliage-covered booth (known as a sukkah) and by taking the “Four Kinds” (arba minim), four special species of vegetation.

Join Chabad of the South Hills for Simchat Torah - the most joyous day of the Jewish year.
With a delicious buffet, L'chaim, flags & Torahs, we will celebrate and dance the night away!
As we mark two years from the Jewish date of Oct 7, let us come together to uplift each other, to honor those we've lost, and to strengthen our shared future.
Let’s dance for our nation, for our people, and for the light we continue to bring into the world!
Let us know that you'll be joining here! We look forward to celebrating with you!
What is the holiday of Simchat Torah?
Simchat Torah (“The Joy of the Torah”), is celebrated by doing the hakafot, held on both the eve and the morning of Simchat Torah, in which we march and dance with the Torah scrolls around the reading table in the synagogue.
On this day, we finsih the Torah reading cycle and immediately begin again; this is because as soon as we conclude studying the Torah, G‑d’s infinite wisdom, on one level, we immediately start again, this time to discover new and loftier interpretations.
