Kitchen of Kindness Club

Junior Chefs

Welcome to Kitchen of Kindness Club!

Where kids cook, learn, and give back.

Kitchen of Kindness Club is a hands-on Jewish experience for children in grades K–8, combining meaningful Jewish learning, practical cooking skills, friendship, and the opportunity to give back to our community.

Our goal is to give kids a place where Judaism is something they don’t just learn about - it’s something they experience. Each Monday, our Junior Chefs will explore Jewish ideas and values while learning recipes, developing real kitchen skills, and becoming more confident in what they can do.

Most importantly, they’ll discover that the skills they learn can be used to bring kindness to someone else.

Cooking with purpose. Giving with heart.

Session 2

Holiday Foods

November 16–December 21

Every Five-Week Session

Weeks 1–4: Learn, Cook & Grow

Each week, Junior Chefs will prepare a new recipe while developing age-appropriate kitchen skills such as measuring, mixing, following directions, preparing ingredients, and working together. Alongside the cooking, they’ll enjoy engaging Jewish learning created especially for their age group—and, of course, they’ll get to taste what they make!

Week 5: A Hug of Kindness

During the final week, the children will work in groups to prepare recipes they learned throughout the session. We’ll bring the dishes together, package them with a personal message from the kids, and prepare them to be delivered to people in our community who could use some extra love and care.

Real food. Real kindness. Real impact.

Jewish Learning That Grows With Your Child

Children will participate in separate, age-appropriate Jewish learning programs designed to make Judaism engaging, meaningful, and relevant.

Grades K–2: Mitzvah I Can Do

Our youngest Junior Chefs will explore different mitzvot through the Mitzvah I Can Do curriculum.

Children will discover the many ways they can use their hands, feet, eyes, ears, mouth, heart, and more to do mitzvot.

Through stories, activities, discussion, and hands-on learning, they’ll explore Jewish values in a way that is fun, concrete, and easy for young children to connect to.

Grades 3–8: JewQ

Older children will participate in JewQ, an international Torah championship that helps children build a strong foundation of Jewish knowledge.

We’ll learn the JewQ material together on Mondays. Children can also review at home through the online Game Zone, filled with games and challenges.

Participants will complete short tests based on what they’ve learned, earn prizes as they progress, and have the opportunity to qualify for the international JewQ Game Show.

The JewQ Shabbaton

JewQ participants are also eligible to join the international JewQ Shabbaton in New York in the spring.

Children from communities around the world come together for an unforgettable weekend filled with exciting trips, performances, activities, beautiful Shabbat meals, new friendships, Jewish pride, and the international JewQ championship.

The Shabbaton is optional and has separate registration and an additional fee.

Why Kitchen of Kindness?

We want children to develop a connection to Judaism that feels like their own. Kitchen of Kindness gives kids the chance to build Jewish knowledge, make friends, learn valuable skills, and discover that even as children, they have the ability to make a difference.

Learn something. Make something. Give something.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a cooking class or a Jewish learning program?

It’s both! Kitchen of Kindness is a hands-on Jewish learning experience that uses cooking to help children learn, connect, build confidence, and give back.

Does my child need cooking experience?

Not at all. Recipes and responsibilities will be adjusted based on each child’s age and ability.

Does my child need to register for all three sessions?

No. Families may register for an individual session or choose the discounted full-program option.

What if my child wants to continue JewQ but cannot attend every session?

Please reach out to us. We can help your child continue learning the JewQ material independently and arrange for the necessary reviews and tests.

Do the children take home the food they make?

During Weeks 1–4, children will taste and enjoy the recipes they prepare. During Week 5, the cooking is dedicated to our Kitchen of Kindness project and will be packaged for members of our community.
